In 90 days 86,000 nip bottles were collected from the environment. The collection sites spanned all 39 cities and towns in RI (Burriville to Block Island, Woonsocket to Westerly). This clean up effort was led by Friends of the Saugatucket and included Clean Ocean Access, Orca, and Save the Bay, and numerous community volunteers. After seeing the insane amount of nip bottles, artists Kelsey Miller and Elizabeth Ellenwood got together to create with the collected material. They created a cyanotype mural from only a portion of the nip bottles in hopes to show the dire need for policy changes towards plastic bottles.
